Findings
Regulation & Licensing
82/100Licences for the UK, German, Singapore, Australian, Dubai and Bermuda entities were confirmed on the regulators’ own registers. IG states that IG Bank SA is licensed by FINMA and IG Securities by Japan’s FSA. Clients outside the regulated regions are onboarded through IG International Limited in Bermuda.
- StrengthIG Markets Limited (FRN 195355) and IG Index Limited (FRN 114059) have been authorised by the FCA since 1 December 2001, and IG Trading and Investments Limited (FRN 944492) since 23 December 2021. All three may hold client money.
- StrengthIG Europe GmbH is a securities institution supervised by BaFin (BaFin-ID 10148759), with dealing permissions since 28 September 2018 and crypto-asset service permissions since 21 November 2025.
- StrengthIG Asia Pte Ltd holds a Capital Markets Services licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore; IG Australia Pty Ltd holds AFSL 515106 from ASIC; IG Limited has held a DFSA licence (F001780) since 10 June 2015.
- MediumIG International Limited, licensed by the Bermuda Monetary Authority since 18 February 2020 for investment business and digital asset business, provides CFD accounts to clients outside the regulated regions, outside the main retail protection regimes.
- ObservationIG International offers retail index CFDs at 0.5% margin (1:200 leverage) and, from 1 September 2026, a welcome cashback rebate of up to US$2,500 on trading fees. Both are lawful in Bermuda and are recorded but not scored.
- ObservationIG Group’s regulation page still describes IG Markets Limited as licensed by ASIC and New Zealand’s FMA. IG Markets Limited does not appear in ASIC’s current list of licensees; IG’s Australian website is operated by IG Australia Pty Ltd under AFSL 515106.
- ObservationOn 13 October 2025 CySEC withdrew the investment firm authorisation (378/19) of BrightPool Ltd, a group company, because the company had renounced it. A licence given up at the firm’s request is not a sanction.
Corporate Structure & Ownership
92/100IG Group Holdings plc is listed on the London Stock Exchange. Its annual report, audited by PricewaterhouseCoopers, lists every subsidiary, including IG International Limited in Bermuda.
- StrengthIG Group changed its financial year end to 31 December and published an audited annual report for the seven months to 31 December 2025, approved on 18 March 2026.
- StrengthThe annual report lists all subsidiaries as wholly owned, and names its largest shareholders as Artemis Investment Management (7.27%), BlackRock (5.36%) and Massachusetts Financial Services (5.27%).
Client Money & Payouts
77/100UK clients are covered by the FSCS and have negative balance protection; IG Europe’s clients are covered by Germany’s investor compensation scheme, the EdW. Clients of the Bermuda entity have segregated trust accounts but no compensation scheme, and IG International’s risk notice says losses can exceed deposits.
- StrengthIG Group reported £2,861.9 million of segregated client funds and client funds in qualifying money market funds at 31 December 2025, held off its balance sheet.
- StrengthIG states that UK client money is held in segregated accounts and protected by the FSCS up to £85,000, and that IG Europe GmbH belongs to the EdW, which covers 90% of a retail client’s claim up to €20,000.
- MediumClients of IG International Limited (Bermuda) fall outside any investor compensation scheme, and its January 2025 risk disclosure notice states: “It is possible to lose more money than you have deposited into the account.”
Execution & Pricing
Not assessed in a desk audit. Spreads, slippage and fill quality can only be measured with live accounts.
Conduct & Disclosure
75/100No fine or sanction against IG-branded companies was found in the last eight years; in 2023 ASIC published IG Australia’s self-reported breaches of CFD leverage limits, which were remediated. The group’s US broker, tastytrade, settled three FINRA cases between 2024 and 2026, and IG Group discloses an open client class action in Australia. A 2018 French fine is more than eight years old and is recorded but not scored.
- MediumOn 21 July 2026 FINRA censured tastytrade, Inc., IG Group’s US brokerage, and fined it $850,000. In a settlement, tastytrade consented to findings, without admitting or denying them, that it did not regularly and rigorously review whether customers’ equity orders, routed between 2020 and 2022 to five market makers that paid it for order flow, obtained best execution. FINRA notes that it improved its procedures in January 2023.
- LowOn 29 May 2026 FINRA censured tastytrade and fined it $200,000 in a settlement over findings that it failed to report at least 71 written customer complaints to FINRA. On 6 November 2024 FINRA fined it $30,000 over supervision of employees’ outside securities accounts.
- LowIn November 2023 ASIC reported that IG Australia (IG Markets Limited and IG Australia Pty Ltd) was one of seven CFD issuers that self-reported issuing CFDs to retail clients above the leverage limits in ASIC’s product intervention order, which ASIC described as possible breaches, and that compensated affected clients. ASIC did not name which issuers it required to pay additional compensation.
- ObservationIG Group’s annual report discloses a class action served in 2023 against two of its operating companies over the sale of OTC derivatives to retail clients in Australia between May 2017 and August 2023. The case is at a procedural stage; these are allegations and no finding has been made.
- ObservationIG Group also discloses claims of about £7.1 million filed in the Tokyo District Court in October 2024 over nickel trade reversals, at an early stage.
- ObservationOn 25 June 2018 the AMF Enforcement Committee fined IG Markets Limited €500,000 over its French branch’s investment recommendations, inaccurate and misleading information about CFDs, and how it gathered information on clients. The decision is more than eight years old, so it is recorded here but not scored.
Operational Resilience
Not assessed in a desk audit. Uptime, incident history and security controls require evidence from the firm or live monitoring.
People & Community
30/100No Great Place to Work certification was found. IG Group’s audited annual report describes its Brighter Future Fund, including a four-year pledge of 1% of post-tax profits completed in September 2025, two days’ paid volunteering leave for staff and named charity partnerships.
- ObservationNo Great Place to Work certification was found in Great Place to Work’s public listings.
- ObservationIG reports a three-year partnership with Western Chances in Melbourne from October 2025 and charity partners in the UK, India, Japan, Poland and the US. These are reported by IG itself; we found no independent reporting of amounts.

Evidence and scope
Scope
Desk audit of the group’s client-facing entities, using public sources only: regulator registers and announcements, court and stock-exchange filings, and the firm’s own published documents, as available on 10 October 2026. No accounts were opened, nothing was tested live, and the firm was not asked for evidence.
Limitations
Absence of a public enforcement record is not evidence of good conduct. The FINMA, Japanese FSA and New Zealand FMA licences are taken from IG’s disclosures and were not checked at those registers. The NFA’s BASIC database could not be queried for tastyfx LLC and tastytrade, and the DFSA’s regulatory actions tab could not be read. The names of the two companies in the Australian class action and its current status were not confirmed at the court. The group’s Freetrade and Independent Reserve businesses were not reviewed. The share of clients served through the Bermuda entity could not be measured from public sources.
