- LowCMC’s 2026 annual report discloses a £5.2 million provision, described as a further provision, to remediate clients for historic margin discounting practices in an Australian subsidiary, linked to what it calls an industry-wide margin netting matter and the regulator’s remediation expectations. In January 2026 ASIC reported that more than half of the CFD issuers it reviewed had breached its product intervention order by offering such margin discounts, without naming them.

Evidence and scope
Scope
Desk audit of the group’s client-facing entities, using public sources only: regulator registers and announcements, court and stock-exchange filings, and the firm’s own published documents, as available on 10 October 2026. No accounts were opened, nothing was tested live, and the firm was not asked for evidence.
Limitations
Absence of a public enforcement record is not evidence of good conduct. The Canadian (CIRO, CIPF) and New Zealand (FMA) details are taken from CMC’s disclosures and were not checked at those registers. ASIC has not named the issuers involved in the margin discount findings, so the Australian remediation is described from CMC’s own annual report. The group’s 51% StrikeX joint venture, including StrikeX (BVI) Ltd, and Opto Markets LLC were not reviewed. The share of clients served through the Bermuda entity could not be measured from public sources.
